Head of Elementary
TCIS Elementary has earned a reputation of academic excellence through the hard work of our students, teachers, parents, and staff. Here learning is made fun and students are imparted positively through reflective teaching, and critical thinking skills.
The following subjects are offered in Elementary School: English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Creative Arts, French, Religious Studies, Music, Social Studies (project), and Nigerian Languages. However, emphasis is basically on English, Mathematics and Sciences as the students are prepared in these subjects for Cambridge Checkpoint Examination.
The students are expected to:
- Attain a minimum grade of 80% average in all subjects
- Use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make informed decisions
- Be productive whether working alone or in a group
- Be actively engaged in classroom activities
- Have pride in their work and be responsible for their learning
Our students are assessed through both formative and summative system of assessment. This is to enable the teachers work on each student’s areas of weakness in order to continually improve their learning, and to ascertain whether they have met the learning outcomes and to what extent. Furthermore, the underachieving students are supported through the Academic Enrichment Programme which is carefully designed to meet their budding needs and Individual Educational Plan.
Our students are also celebrated for their performance through the use of stars which culminates to the award of certificates at the end of the month.
We have a welcoming and serene environment which can help each student adapt easily to learning. Our parents are very supportive and quite engaging in the school events and activities.
We also aid continuous learning through the use of Google Classroom, Jupiter, Purple Mash and Quizizz.
