TCIS Learner Attributes


The following TCIS Learner attributes describe the whole child we strive to develop:


OPEN-MINDED

TCIS Students understand and appreciate their own cultures and are open to the perspectives, values, and traditions of others. They seek and evaluate a range of points of view and are willing to grow from the experience.

COMMUNICATOR

TCIS Students understand and express ideas and information confidently in more than one language and, a variety of modes. They communicate effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.

RESPONSIBLE

TCIS Students take responsibility for their own learning and their own role in the community. They persevere in commitments to themselves, the community, and the environment and continue working towards the highest standards. They take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany them.

CREATIVE

TCIS Students express their feelings and ideas in innovative ways, find new ways to solve problems and produce aesthetic and meaningful work in a variety of modes and media.

RISK-TAKER

TCIS Students approach unfamiliar situations with courage and forethought. They have confidence to explore new roles, ideas, and strategies and are articulate in expressing their beliefs.

PRINCIPLED

TCIS Students are honest and act with integrity, have a sense of fairness, justice, and respect for individuals, groups, and communities. They demonstrate self-discipline and good morals.

INQUIRER

TCIS Students develop their natural curiosity and the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research. They actively enjoy learning and make the commitment to be life-long learners.

THINKER

TCIS Students apply thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems to make reasoned and ethical decisions.

CARING

TCIS Students show empathy, compassion, and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a commitment to service and act to make a positive difference for others and the environment.

REFLECTIVE

TCIS Students are thoughtful in considering their experiences and learning. They can assess their strengths and limitations in order to support their learning and personal development.

B ALANCED

TCIS Students understand the importance of physical and mental balance for personal well-being.

KNOWLEDGEABLE

TCIS Students explore concepts and ideas that are locally and globally relevant and significant. They acquire in-depth knowledge and developing understandings in a range and balance of disciplines.
